Brian Papich wins local Chartered Financial Analyst challenge, heads to regionals in Boston, MA

2018 Feb 23

Brian Papich is a member of the team of students representing John Carroll University's Boler School of Business that recently won this year's local CFA Institute Research Challenge. CFA Society Cleveland sponsors the event, which was held on February 17, 2018 at the City Club of Cleveland. The John Carroll students are now preparing to compete in the regional competition, which will take place next month in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Research Challenge is an annual competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly traded company. Teams write a detailed research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and are asked to present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals.

Each team researched the Sherwin-Williams Company.

In total, the local competition included students representing 11 area colleges and universities. Advisors for Boler's CFA Challenge team are Anthony Aveni, CFA, executive in residence for Economics and Finance, and Feng Zhan, Ph.D. Aveni is an industry mentor and Zhan is an assistant professor of Economics and Finance at John Carroll.
