Chloe Slavin Is a Member of Winning Enterpreneurship Team!

2016 Oct 20

Chloe Slavin is a member of John Carroll University's Entrepreneurship team, which won first place in this year's "Entrepreneurship Immersion Week" contest, earning a $2500 prize.

The program is an idea competition among Northeast Ohio colleges and universities that are members of the Entrepreneurship Education Consortium (EEC). Teams of students attend workshops led by faculty, angel investors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders. The teams choose a business concept, study its market feasibility, and prepare a presentation for the competition. Entrepreneurship Immersion Week is primarily funded by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation.

The competition was held in August at the University of Mount Union. Other EEC members who participated in the competition are: Ashland University, Baldwin Wallace University, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland State University, Hiram College, Kent State University, Lake Erie College, Lorain County Community College, the University of Akron, and the University of Mount Union.

The JCU team designed a wristband that allows parents to monitor their children's dehydration and UV exposure. Advisors for the team are John Carroll faculty Tom Bonda, Mark Hauserman, and Dr. Jackie Schmidt.

John Carroll University students enrolled in the Entrepreneurship Minor are able to experience many opportunities (including Immersion Week) designed to inspire leadership, teamwork, and creativity. The minor is designed to support all majors.
