Madeline Smanik Is Named 2016 NBC/JCU "Meet the Press" Fellowship Recipient

2016 May 13

Madeline Smanik has been named the 2016 NBC / John Carroll University "Meet the Press" Fellowship recipient. Smanik will graduate from John Carroll on May 22.

Smanik majored in both Communications and Political Science. She has served as the campus editor for the University's student-run newspaper, The Carroll News, and held internships at Cleveland Magazine, WKYC-TV 3 (NBC), and Wingspan Care Group.

The NBC/John Carroll University "Meet the Press" Fellowship was created in 2009 in memory of the Sunday morning program's legendary host, Tim Russert, a 1972 John Carroll graduate. It is awarded annually to a John Carroll graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in political journalism. The Fellowship is a nine-month position at NBC's "Meet the Press."

The fellowship affords a John Carroll graduate the opportunity to gain experience in the research and production of the weekly political talk show under the direction of the program's executive producer.
