Mara Bahmer earns "Honors Program" scholarship: Class of 2021

Mara Bahmer has been accepted into the Honors Program at John Carroll University. More than 325 highly qualified students applied for the distinguished program.

In addition to a $5,000 annual merit scholarship and priority course registration status, incoming members of the Honors Program also recieve the following benefits:

  • Honors Program Book Award: Costs are covered for all textbooks in required Honors courses.
  • Honors Pathway Award: Up to $3,000 will be awarded for engaging in experiential learning during sophomore or junior year.
  • Honors Capstone Award: $1,500 awarded after the final Honors Program requirement is completed.
  • An opportunity to be part of a living-learning community with other students in Signature Programs (Leadership Scholars and Arrupe Scholars).

The Honors Program seeks to recruit high-achieving learners to a community where they may cultivate intellectual curiosity, engage actively in their learning, strengthen their communication skills, and serve as academic leaders of the University. Typically, incoming Honors students have earned a minimum 3.5 GPA in a strong college preparatory curriculum. Additional requirements are explained on the Honors Program website.
